The Art of Mixology

The art of mixology is a term to refer to the mixing of drinks or cocktails (bartending). It is a cocktail specialty and an evolution of the bartender. The mixologist seeks to reinterpret classic drinks and create new ones.

Transferring this concept to the world of art, Mikko is based on this concept to create a mix in his works, just like a bartender selects the best products to make the perfect cocktail, Mikko selects images and references from the world of pop art to create unique works, with a strong visual impact.

The creation of a work begins with the selection of images, templates, press clippings to jointly create a story that gives meaning to the final message of the work. Mikko very commonly mixes concepts in his works, whether from leading painters such as Andy Warhol, Jeff Koons, Magrite, Rauschenberg, Mondrian, Matisse, Dalí, Picasso, Miró, Banksy, Roy Lichtenstein, Keith Haring, Basquiat, Mr. Brainwash, Falcó … or images of comics, famous people, fashion items, etc. This mixture of images allows Mikko to give meaning to his works.

Another of Mikko’s passions is mixing pop-art icons of yesteryear with present events to bring his work to the present. It is recurrent to see in his works nods to the past and highly topical themes.
